There are a few trips that I am going to take at some point in my life. Being an angler, the destinations have to offer some amazing sights and sounds, as well as some trophy fish. When I lay out a list of the trips that I want to take, 4 of them continuously come out on top.
#1 – Alaska – With trophy salmon on the lineup, and some of the most amazing backdrops you could ever imagine, who, in their right mind, would not want to go fishing in Alaska? You may have to wait until the temperature warms up enough, and deal with the bears taking a free meal off the end of your hook, but with those minor problems out of the way, Alaska makes it to the top of the list as one of my favorite fishing destinations.
#2 – Aruba – Offering inshore fishing for large Snook, Tarpon, and heavy-hitting Bonefish, as well as some excellent eating Red, Dog, and Yellow snapper, Aruba is also high on the list. If you want even bigger fish you can head offshore and tackle monster sized, high flying Billfish.
#3 – Florida Keys – Even living in Florida, I still want to head down to the keys for a week to experience all that they have to offer. With one of the most diverse fisheries in the world for both inshore, and offshore species, it’s easy to see why the warm, lush waters of the Florida keys attract so many anglers. You can target inshore species such as Snook, Tarpon, and Redfish, to some of the bigger trophies of the deep ranging from Wahoo, Cobia, Marlin, Tuna, Jacks, and Barracudas.
#4 – Amazon – When I think of a trip to the Amazon jungle, the main thing that comes to mind are pristine, untouched waters that hold huge Peacock bass. Along with monster sized Peacocks, you can catch everything from the toothy Tigerfish, to flesh eating Pirahnas, and a wide range of other species, as well.
If you are planning a trip in the near future, you should definitely give some of these destinations a shot. If you do, you never know, we could end up crossing paths while we’re slinging plugs!
I have never been to Alaska, maybe you can share some of the great spots you found there.
